The Internet provides many opportunities to build high pr backlinks for your site if you know how to take full advantage of it.  Social Bookmarking sites offer an excellent source of high pr backlinks, and they are a great promotional tool for any website.

Social Bookmarking is a growing trend in the online community.  As the Internet expands more vastly every day, it becomes more and more difficult to sort through all of the ‘garbage’ websites to find ones that are useful and relevant.  How many times have you found a site that you really liked and shared the link with other people?  This practice is the basis for social Bookmarking sites such as Digg, Reddit and StumbleUpon.  These sites allow users to bookmark sites that they found particularly useful so that other people can check them out as well.  Users can browse through these sites and explore links that were recommended by other users.  Links to your URL from any of these sites are valuable high pr backlinks.

You can use social Bookmarking sites to your advantage by recommending your own site on them, or by asking a friend to do so.  This will create a one-way link to your website from a site that has a high page ranking as well as a high volume of traffic.  Not only will you benefit from the high pr backlinks, you will also attract traffic to your site, which is what you want in the first place.

A word of caution when using social Bookmarking sites – although they can be a valuable source of high pr backlinks, abuse of these sites can backfire on you.  Place only one link, leading to your landing page, and make the landing page a good one.  Linking to every page of your site will often discourage users when they land on a page that they don’t really see a point to.  Sites such as StumbleUpon will recognize repetitive links and you will be dismissed as a spammer.  Spamming is not an effective method of marketing if you want to be taken seriously and develop a good reputation on the web.
